MOT Failure Repairs and MOT Advisory Repairs

Vehicles will have failed an MOT if the test result lists 'dangerous' or 'major' problems with your vehicle. This means you might not be allowed to drive until the issues are fixed. There may also be a list of 'minor' or 'advisory' problems to monitor or fix in the future, which I can also manage.

Elmer Automotive Services will repair and replace whatever has failed on any car or light commercial vehicle. As an expert mobile mechanic, I repair classic cars, supercars, hatchbacks, 4x4s, light commercial vans, transit vans, Luton vans and tilt and drop vans. I don’t cover HGVs.

What Are MOT Defect Categories?

The aforementioned MOT defects are categorised as dangerous, major or minor. The core aspects of these defects are listed here, and I am happy to advise on all elements and the solutions I provide when you contact me on 07394 371092.

Dangerous Defects

Dangerous defects mean your vehicle is not roadworthy. These issues must be repaired before your car or light commercial vehicle can be driven. It is illegal to drive an unroadworthy vehicle, even to or from an MOT test. This is where my mobile mechanic services come in.

Major Defects

Major defects also cause vehicles to fail MOT tests and must be resolved immediately. These defects don’t necessarily mean a vehicle is unroadworthy, so you can drive it to your preferred location to be repaired.

Minor Defects

Minor defects are not critical enough to cause a vehicle to fail an MOT but should still be repaired as soon as possible. I am happy to discuss the MOT repairs I provide for customers in and around Chard and the required services for your vehicle’s defects.
